Program
Objective
At
the end of this highly interactive 3 week workshop, unemployed
experienced workers will be able to identify the trends in today's
labour market, recognize their strengths and market their unique
skills to employers through assistance from experienced facilitators/coaches
and job developers. They will also begin using various computer
applications and the Internet to increase their advantage in the
competitive job market.

Participants will be able to describe usual emotional responses
to job loss, identify their own emotional stages and discuss effective
strategies to overcome negativity and be successful in their job
search.

Employability Readiness Workshops:
Participants will discuss the unique issues of today's labor market,
and receive assistance to develop the attitude and skills needed
to increase self-sufficiency and effective strategies in their job

3.
Computer Workshops:
Participants will be able to operate PC computers to conduct job
search functions, including preparing resumes and letters, searching
the Internet, sending emails and using spreadsheets.

Eligibility
Requirements
The CEW is targeted to unemployed experienced workers who are
- 40 years of age of older
- Unemployed and currently looking for work
- Commitment to job searching and attending workshop
Additional criteria for experienced workers in the age group 40-45 are:
- Have minimal computer skills or lack computer skills or
- Have been working in survival jobs over the previous 2 years or
- Have been in the same job for more than 10 years prior to being laid off
Registration
Participants
must get a Return to Work Action Plan from a Employment Ontario Assessment Centre and attend a CEW Information Session in order to be eligible to
attend the program. To register for an information session, please
